Gerald Butt was the author of several books on the Middle East. He was born and brought up in the Middle East and has spent nearly 40 years covering the region – as an award-winning BBC correspondent and as an analyst for a range of radio, television and print outlets. He was also a life-long aviation enthusiast. He passed away in 2022.
